How This Site Is Made
Two different things are published here, made two different ways. We would rather tell you which is which than let you guess.
The Beware Index is AI-generated
Each rating is researched and written by an AI system working from a fixed set of instructions, and published without a human rewriting the prose. That is worth knowing before you read one, so we are saying it here rather than in a footnote.
What keeps it honest is that the system is not free to say whatever it likes. It scores five fixed dimensions, and the letter grade is then computed by a script from those five numbers, so a model cannot talk itself into a dramatic grade its own scores do not support. Every claim has to carry a citation, and an automated check rejects entries that arrive unsourced or that drift into the register of marketing copy. When a rating changes, the change is logged with a date and a reason.
The fiction is AI-assisted
The stories are drafted with AI tools and then shaped, cut and edited by a person before anything is published. A human decides what the story is, which drafts survive, and how it ends. Joe Kryo is the pen name those stories run under.
A site about the risks of AI that was cagey about its own use of AI would not be worth reading. If you think we have a rating wrong, tell us and bring the source. Corrections get logged like everything else.
